Produce: Beef and lamb.  Some field vegetables for animal feed and human consumption
Target Market: Local community

Description of Business/Grant:

The Robinsons run a beef and lamb production unit which has recently gone into the Rural Stewardship Scheme.  They have always grown some field vegetables, both for human consumption and as animal feed. Grant was awarded for a single-span polytunnel to extend the growing season, availability and choice of crops.

Catherine's Country Kitchen

Type of Business/Project: Sole trader
Location: Shieldhill, Falkirk
Owners: Catherine Neil
Produce: Homemade jams and chutneys eg quince, pumpkin marmalade, gooseberry, plum, pear and onion.
Target Market: Caterers/catering companies, hotels and restaurants, local shops, delicatessens, retail outlets including farm shops, and at gala days, Highland games, Royal Highland Show, street fairs

Description of Business/Grant:

Fresh supplies of the ingredients are sourced locally where possible. Produce is at present sold at: Honey etc, Callander; Boghall Farm, Thornhill; Thornhill Market; The Tartan Box, Stirling; Gartartan Garden Centre, Goblins Tea Shop, Falkirk within Forth  Valley and: Powmill Milk Bar, Rumbling Bridge; Gretna Green Group outside Forth Valley. Future outlets are likely to be Dobbies, Stirling; Moffat Toffee Shop and Scottish Water, Lake Katrine.  The grant was used to purchase a labelling machine and design of labels to increase sales effectiveness.
