FVFL Calls for Sustainable National Food Policy
FVFL has submitted a response to the discussion on the Scottish
Government’s National Food Policy debate, ‘Choosing the Right Ingredients
– The Future for Food in Scotland’. The response urges the government to
put sustainability and food security at the policy’s core and Scotland’s
ability to feed itself above that of exporting food. To read the full
response visit:

‘Food Miles Plus’ Activity Evaluation
Following a successful evaluation of the pilot stage of the ‘Food Mile
Plus’ game, the activity will be developed beyond the pilot phase as an
activity resource rather than a game. The resource is an awareness-raising
tool about local food and its impacts on the environment, our health, our
communities and our local economy. Business development support is being
received from Business Gateway and other potential partners to take the
project forward.(15 May 2008) |

Bite-Size Workshops for ‘Square Foot Gardening’
FVFL is developing ‘taster’ sessions and a programme of

the Spring of next. The ‘Square Foot Gardening’ concept is a way of
growing fruit and vegetables in a small space with minimum effort,
maintenance and other inputs. Watch out in future eBulletins and on the
website for further announcements. Contact Diane, diane@fvfl.org.uk if you

Upgrade for Food Game
The Food Miles game is being re-developed into a game that tells the
bigger picture of where your food is produced to how it gets on to your
plate. Topics covered include food miles, food processing, shopping bags,
where to find local food, and there will be a seasonal calendar and
recipes in the information pack. FVFL is re-developing the game in
partnership with the Clacks and Falkirk Community Food Development Workers
and Forth Environment Link. The game will be piloted before being made
more widely available to community groups and schools. (24 October
2007)
