Stirling Seed Swap Social (4:00PM - 4:00PM)

Towards Transition Stirling Seed Swap Social,Birds and the Bees, Easter Cornton Road, Causewayhead, Stirling FK9 5PB

Do you have any unwanted, surplus or even close to expiry date vegetable or fruit seeds you no longer need? Fancy seeing what other people have been growing/ attempting to grow in Stirling and maybe try growing something new?

Bring your seeds along to the Towards Transition Stirling event on Sunday 14th March and swap them for different varieties, share growing tips and encourage those less green-fingered amongst us to give food growing a go. With spring just around the corner, this is the time to be thinking about what you are going to grow this year.

The Seed Swap Social will follow the Towards Transition Stirling AGM.

Forth Valley Orchards Evening Event (7:00PM - 9:00PM)
People across Stirling who are interested in the future of Forth Valley’s orchards and fruit trees, are being invited to come along to an evening event that will report on the results of the Forth Valley Orchard Regeneration Initiative Mapping & Feasibility Study, and to help plot the next steps.    The event, organised by local environmental charity, Forth Environment Link, will take place on Tuesday, 16 March 2010 from 7.00 – 9.00 pm at the Smith Art Gallery & Museum, Dumbarton Road, Stirling, FK8 2RQ, and is open to all in Clackmannanshire, Falkirk and Stirling areas. We want to share what we’ve found out, and also to ask people how we can help orchard and fruit tree owners to get the best out of their trees in the future.  There is also a growing interest in planting new community orchards, so we would like to hear from anyone who would like to start one. This will be a good forum for discussing lots of good ideas.” Dr Crispin Hayes will be presenting his report on the historic orchards of Forth Valley, and Margaret Miller will present her findings on school orchards across the area.  Results of the Green Mapping workshops will be presented by Action for Change’s Mike Trevett.  The event will be chaired by Kate Sankey, Chair of Forth Environment Link. This initiative is being part-financed by the Scottish Government and the European Community Forth Valley & Lomond LEADER 2007 - 2013 Programme; Falkirk Environment Trust, and Scottish Natural Heritage.
