A screening of the film to highlight the disturbing story of the decline in the worldwide honey bee population.
This is a joint screening by Falkirk Town Hall and Forth Environment Link and supported by The Co-operative. The Co-operative founded in the 1840s and today owned by its 3 million members, recently launched its initiative to promote campaigning and socially conscious films with this documentary about the decline in the worldwide bee population.
The film will be followed by a discussion presented by Forth Environment Link and the chance to share your views about the film and ideas for effecting change.
The disturbing story of the disappearing honey bee is of deadly importance – as the narrator Emilia Fox informs us, eighty per cent of all fruit, veg, nuts, seeds, herbs and flowers rely on the bee for pollination and the honeybee plays a role in one in every three mouthfuls of food we eat. Using a wide range of interviews with well-informed bee-keepers, scientists and farmers the directors explore the insidious phenomenon of “colony collapse disorder” and its possible causes.
The Co-Operative's representatives will be in attendance with give-aways and a free ‘bee box’ raffle.
