apple_blossom.jpgFollowing a successful end to the mapping and feasibility phase of the Forth Valley Regeneration Initiative, a ‘blossoming’ new group has had its first meeting to take forward the development of orchards in Forth Valley.

The first meeting of the embryonic group was held at the Cloybank Estate, Banknock on 10 May, kindly hosted by the estate Director, John Penman, who has plans to plant a 500 tree orchard.  The estate is a working estate (http://www.cloybankestate.co.uk), with sporting and leisure opportunities for individuals and groups.

The format of the meeting, facilitated by interested group member Scot Mathieson, was informal and participative, to draw out differing view-points and ideas for future developments.  It was the start of the process to look at ways of creating, enhancing, and using orchards and other fruit trees in Forth Valley - a second, more action-oriented phase.

The next meeting will be in the first week in June (date to be posted on this website) and anyone wanting to join in would be very welcome.  Contact Diane Alderdice on 01786 449215 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
