John Brown Butchers were recently awarded a Gold Award at the Scottish Meat Trade Fair, which took place in Perth.

The butchers – who have shops in Buchlyvie and Balfron, as well as within Dobbies Garden Centre in Stirling and Milngavie - received their award for their outstanding speciality product, chicken en-croute.  The event saw the first ever cured product evaluation for Scottish Butchers as more and more have branched out into curing their own local meats – as opposed to buying products from overseas.  The overall product aimed to highlight these products, as well as giving the butchers feedback on their businesses and advice on how to improve them.  (Source: www.stirlingobserver.co.uk, 15 May 09).
