greenspace_consultation.jpgStirling Council is giving its residents an opportunity to say how they would like Stirling to grow and develop in 20 years' time - and that includes food growing!

Consultation on both the Stirling Local Development Plan and the Open Space Strategy has started.

Donald Balsillie, Stirling Council's Countryside Service Manager leading the Open Space Strategy consultation, told Forth Valley Food Links that he is keen to hear from anyone who has a view on the future of our open spaces, as growing spaces -  orchards, allotments, and community food growing -  or for wildlife, play etc. Donald can be contacted at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it for further information.

There are a number of ways to input into the consultation, but the most innovative tool will be a Map-assisted Survey at http://www.stirling.gov.uk/files/openspace/mapPage.php, the first time in Scotland that this type of map has been used in this way.

You can use the map to pick an area that you want to comment on, or use the search facility to search by address or post code.  You can see the detailed Open Spaces map data and designation of that area, zoom in for a closer look, and follow the link to the questionnaire where you can add details and comments for that space.

You can also do an on-line General Survey at: http://www.stirling.gov.uk/index/leisure/countryside/openspace.htm, and go to one of the Summer Roadshow venues (visit http://www.stirling.gov.uk/news?id=229802 for a list of venues and dates).
