market_garden.pngA feasibility study, commissioned by Linkwide, has been completed to assess the feasibility of a market garden social enterprise in the Falkirk area.

The study, undertaken by CEIS, with input from organisations including Forth Environment Link, has investigated whether there is a viable market for market garden produce that would sustain a social enterprise producer in the Falkirk area, and to identify the best type of model for operating such an enterprise.

The study has concluded that there is a demand at national and local level for local produce from a market garden, and that a model of mixed use including horticulture, landscaping and garden maintenance would be a suitable model under the current economic climate.

The project would provide training and employment opportunities for people disadvantaged in the labour market.

Linkwide is looking for potential partners to help develop the enterprise and perhaps take the development lead.  If any group or organisation is interested, please contact Sheila Maxwell, Linkwide on 01324 417161 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
